Intoxicated male arrested in Atwater

Official press release from the Atwater Police Department:

On the evening of January 11, 2018 at approximately 7:31 PM, Atwater Police were called to a home on Mesquite Court in reference to a suspected intoxicated male who was reportedly brandishing a firearm in the front yard of the home. Officers responded to the area and encountered the male in the front yard. He was later identified as Casey Mooneyham of Atwater. Officer Vierra and Sergeant Echevarria reported that upon initial contact, Mooneyham became belligerent but eventually complied with their lawful commands once they identified themselves as the police. Mooneyham was found to have a loaded, concealed semi-automatic pistol in his front waistband. Contact was then made with a female inside of the home who appeared shaken and told officers that Mooneyham had been drinking and arguing with neighbors earlier and then later turned his anger towards her. She told officers that Mooneyham shoved her, pointed the gun at her and threatened to shoot her. Mooneyham was arrested and later booked into the Merced County Jail on charges of Corporal Injury to a Spouse, Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Criminal Threats and Brandishing a Firearm.
