Man arrested for possession of a firearm, ammunition, receiving stolen property and sales of narcotics

On Thursday, August 10, 2017, the Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) officers developed information that Probationer Mong Vang had firearms and narcotics at his residence in the 1900 block of Highway 140 in Merced. GVSU officers responded to his residence where they conducted a probation search of his home. During the search, officers located a stolen handgun, ammunition, packaged methamphetamine, a digital scale, and cash inside the home. Vang is a convicted felon and cannot possess any firearms. Vang was arrested and booked at the Merced County Jail for felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition, receiving stolen property and sales of narcotics.
