ONE PERSON DECEASED AFTER MOTORCYCLE CRASH

On Monday November 28, 2016 at 1:53 p.m. the Merced Police Department received a call of a solo motorcycle accident on  E. Bellevue Road. Officers along with City Fire and RIGGS ambulance personnel responded to the scene. The driver of the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Bellevue Road when for an unknown reason left the roadway. The motorcycle struck a tree north of the roadway before coming to rest. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the motorcyclist is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin. Officers are currently at the scene investigating the collision. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol may have been a contributing factor.
