On 8/28/16 at approximately 4:15 p.m., California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle into a canal on Oakdale Road, east of Oakdale Ct. Responding officers located a red Honda in a ravine with major collision damage. The driver was located a short distance from the vehicle where he succumbed to his injuries.
During the investigation of the accident, evidence showed the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Oakdale Road at an unknown speed. As the driver approached a curve, the driver went off the south edge of the roadway and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle struck a tree and came to rest in a ravine. During the accident the driver was ejected and came to rest in the creek near the vehicle. The driver’s name has not been released pending notification of the family. The Honda was registered out of Modesto.
The accident is still under investigation and alcohol/drugs have not been ruled out. Looking at evidence located at the scene, the accident possibly occurred several hours earlier. Where the vehicle was located it was very difficult to see from the roadway.
