On Wednesday, April 27, 2016 the Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) developed information that gang member Charles Peterson who was on probation had firearms inside his residence. GVSU officers contacted Peterson at his home in the1500 block of Merced Ave in Merced. GVSU officers conducted a probation search of his residence and located a 40 caliber handgun, ammunition and meth inside his home. He was arrested and booked at the Merced County Jail for felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession ammunition and possession of meth.
